Symon emigrated to South Australia from Scotland in 1866, studied law, admitted to S.A. Bar 1871 where he practised until 1923. Member S.A. House of Assembly, 1881-87; Attorney-General 1881; Member Federal Convention 1897-98; Senator for S.A. 1901-13, Attorney-General, 1904-05.
